Delivered by Sparsholt College, this 9‑day introductory course takes place across nine days.  It is designed to build confidence and hands‑on skills in a supportive workshop environment. 

You will cover: 

• Health and safety assessments and safe workshop practices 
• Use of PPE and correct equipment handling 
• Introduction to welding tools and equipment 
• Basic awareness of MIG and TIG welding 
• MIG welder setup and shutdown procedures 
• Practical welding techniques, including straight bead runs 
• Introduction to basic welding joints (butt and fillet)
• Understanding basic machine controls 
• Simple practical tasks to develop hand–eye coordination 
• Overview of career pathways and progression to Level 2 Welding
